The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), in partnership with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), is calling on second- and third-year students studying Horticulture, Nature Conservation and Eco Tourism Management to apply for work-integrated learning placement.

  • Stipend: R3 575.75
  • Location: South Africa

The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), in partnership with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), is calling on second- and third-year students studying Horticulture, Nature Conservation and Eco Tourism Management to apply for work-integrated learning placement.

Placement opportunities are only available in the following fields and gardens:

Requirements: 

  • Second- and third-year Horticulture, Nature Conservation and Eco Tourism Management students who are self-motivated and enthusiastic are encouraged to apply. Good grades will be a strong advantage.
  • Students who have already graduated need not apply.
  • Students must make their own arrangements for accommodation.

Application: 

Ensure that all the below-mentioned documents are uploaded on the application form.

Failure to supply the below documents will result in rejection of the application:

  • A letter of interest
  • A CV
  • Your goals while training at SANBI
  • Letter of recommendation from lecturers/supervisors
  • Letter from university stating that you need to complete work-integrated learning (this letter must reflect 2024 placement)
  • Certified copies of your results
  • Certified copy of your ID

If no response has been received within 30 days of the closing date, candidates may assume that their applications were unsuccessful. Candidates will be expected to be available for interviews on dates and times as determined by SANBI.

SANBI reserves the right not to fill these positions.
