The Dispensary Support Learnership offers a structured curriculum focusing on the principles of the pharmaceutical environment and dispensing. It promotes high-quality, hands-on training to prepare participants for future roles in pharmacy support.
Duties:
As a Dispensary Support Learner, you will engage in various tasks, including:
- Assisting with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines and scheduled substances.
- Supporting call center operations by handling scripts and addressing patient service calls.
- Promoting health by providing relevant information to customers.
- Facilitating scheme authorization for chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication.
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages or errors to the Dispensary Manager.
- Unpacking and merchandising dispensary stock while ensuring a clean environment.
- Accurately picking, packing, labeling, and checking medication under a pharmacist’s supervision.
- Ensuring medication accuracy and compliance with company procedures.
- Following up with patients on script tracking reports and appointments.
Criteria and skills:
To qualify for this learnership, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Academic records:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics (Higher Grade).
- Physical Science or Life Science.
- Minimum average of 50%.
- Skills and attributes:
- Proficiency in English and a second language (read, write, and speak).
- Time management and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer service orientation with problem-solving capabilities.
- Teamwork, accountability, and professional conduct.
- Computer literacy and numerical aptitude.
