INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME FOR THE 2025 – 2027 PERIOD
The Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) invites unemployed South African graduates from Institutions of Higher Learning who have completed their qualifications and have not yet gained work experience related to their field of study to apply for its 24-month internship programme, a the RSR’s Head Office in Midrand, Waterfall. This programme also welcomes students currently studying towards a qualification that requires a structured internship to meet academic requirements.
The RSR’s oversight role begins before the first train leaves the station. To operate on the South African rail network, train operators must apply to the RSR for a safety permit, demonstrating that they meet prescribed operational requirements.
Our highest priority is to ensure the safety of passengers, communities and all stakeholders.
We aim to be proactive, tirelessly working to improve the standards of the rail network to prevent safety incidents.
As part of its commitment to skills development, RSR aims to create opportunities for graduates and students to receive on-the-job training and gain practical work experience. However, participation in this programme does not create any expectation of full-time employment upon completion.
